St. Brendan’s Church is an active supporter of Wabanaki Alliance: a collaborative initiative formed to educate people of Maine about the need for securing sovereignty of the tribes in Maine. Island Heritage Trust is the Deer Isle – Stonington land trust that conserves and cares for the land with public access to valued trails, shoreline and islands, and provides educational programming for all ages. Together, we invite the community to join us in open dialogue and learning surrounding native history of this land and explore efforts at restoring sovereignty and expanded access.
